Travel Times To The Venues

These are estimated travel times from Wollongong CBD, based on information provided by the Olympic Roads and Transport Authority - compiled by Cydonee Mardon:
SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK:
For a park and ride option, drive to Wollongong University or North Wollongong TAFE to catch a shuttle bus to North Wollongong Station (the shuttle buses will leave every five-10 minutes). Then catch a train to Redfern and interchange for direct line to Olympic Park. Travel time two hours, 35 minutes.
Or drive to Loftus, catch a train to Redfern and change for direct service to Olympic Park. Travel time two hours, 10 minutes.
Or drive to Miranda Park, Toyota Park or Menai Catholic Church and catch a shuttle bus to Olympic Park (bus route 7a, 7b or 6). Travel time two hours, 20 minutes.
Trains leave Redfern for Olympic Park every five or 10 minutes from 6am. (They operate 24 hours but less regularly after midnight).
DARLING HARBOUR: Drive to Loftus, catch a train to Redfern, change for Central and walk to the venue. Travel time two hours, five minutes.
Or catch a train to Redfern, change at Central and walk to the venue. Travel time two hours, 40 minutes.
There will not be special Olympic spectator buses running to the city. Spectators travelling to the CBD on continuing daily bus services will pay normal fares.
DUNC GRAY VELODROME: Drive to Bass Hill (Bass Hill Plaza off Johnston Rd) and catch a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time one hour, 35 minutes.
Or drive to Loftus, catch a train to Sydenham, a train to Bankstown and a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time two hours, 35 minutes.
Or catch a train to Sydenham, a train to Bankstown and a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time three hours, five minutes.
BLACKTOWN OLYMPIC CENTRE: Drive to Eastern Creek Raceway, and catch a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time two hours.
Or drive to Loftus, catch a train to Redfern, a train to Doonside and catch a shuttle bus or walk to the venue (1.6km). Travel time three hours, 15 minutes.
Or catch a train to Redfern, a train to Doonside and either catch a shuttle bus or walk from the station to the venue. Travel time three hours, 40 minutes.
SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL REGATTA CENTRE: Drive to Penrith (Penrith Defence Site off Coreen Ave), catch a shuttle bus to the venue, Penrith Whitewater Stadium. Travel time two hours, 20 minutes.
Or drive to Loftus and catch a train to Redfern, a train to Penrith and a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time three hours, 40 minutes.
Or catch a train to Redfern, a train to Penrith and a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time four hours, five minutes.
RYDE AQUATIC LEISURE CENTRE: Drive to Loftus, catch a train to Redfern, a train to West Ryde and a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time two hours, 35 minutes.
Or catch a train to Redfern, a train to West Ryde and a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time three hours.
SYDNEY FOOTBALL STADIUM: Drive to Loftus, catch a train to Central and catch a shuttle bus or walk to the venue. Travel time two hours, 10 minutes.
Or catch a train to Redfern, a train to Central and catch a shuttle or walk to the venue. Travel time two hours, 25 minutes.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL CENTRE: Drive to Loftus, catch a train to Redfern, change for Bondi Junction and a shuttle bus to the venue at Bondi Beach. Travel time two hours, 20 minutes.

SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE: Drive to Prestons Trash and Treasure Markets (Brumbera St) and catch a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time two hours, five minutes.
Or drive to Loftus, catch a train to Sydenham, a train to Liverpool and a shuttle bus to the venue. Travel time three hours, 10 minutes.

SAILING: The Sailing Marina at Rushcutters Bay is not a spectator venue. Spectators can view the sailing from various vantage points around Sydney Harbour.
ROAD EVENTS: Marathon, triathlon and road cycling spectators can access various vantage points along the courses of these non-ticketed events. General public transport gives access to the routes.
TRANSPORT IN CENTRAL SYDNEY:
A special roads and transport strategy is operating in the city until two days after the Closing Ceremony. Key elements of the plan include a network of road and lane closures to provide additional pedestrian areas, a free city bus loop operating from 9.30am-1am daily and an expanded network of taxi ranks.
