HUNTER Health is right behind the Woodville Junction plan and is even considering using health money to run shuttle buses if needed.

Hunter Health chief executive Katherine McGrath said the interchange could solve the biggest public complaint about health for years, transport access to health services.

``We think it will be a wonderful advance," Professor McGrath said.

She said building the interchange would make it feasible to run a shuttle bus between the junction and the John Hunter and Mater hospitals.

``An interchange like that means you can bring together public transport, in particular trains from a lot of different areas," Professor McGrath said. ``Then we've got a fairly simple connection to make between the Mater, John Hunter and the interchange. ``That is something that either the private sector could do or we could provide. We could possibly pay for the shuttle ourselves."
