Revellers siphoned to hubs

In an effort to reduce alcohol-fuelled trouble, Manly Council has created two transport hubs, one of them on the beachfront, to quickly disperse late-night revellers. "The current arrangement requires patrons to walk right through the Corso or negotiate through laneways to an existing taxi zone, and that walk will now be unnecessary," said Henry Wong, the council's general manager. The council is also trying out a shuttle bus service, run by a private operator, to neighbouring suburbs.
